Which snooker session should I book?
Start with the session you can attend, then compare the round and seat category. A final evening is a different purchase from an opening-round afternoon: the price, table arrangement and chance of a short session all change. These examples use our published 2026 UK and 2027 World Championship and Masters price data, checked on 6 October 2026.

Three events, real prices
| Event | Compared category | Cheapest session | Cheapest final session | Final evening | Fees outside these figures |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| World Championship 2027 | Standard M, N, P | £50 | £156 | £174 | 10% transaction fee |
| Masters 2027 | Standard C · K–Q | £35 | £75 | £80 | 10% booking fee + £2.10 per ticket |
| UK Championship 2026 | Standard | £30 | £60 | £65 | Booking/facility fees extra; checkout amount required |
The comparison uses the lowest ordinary category in each price sheet. Check the seller for remaining seats. The Crucible category is Standard M, N, P; the Masters category is Standard C; York is Standard. Compare the view as well as the price: seat location and arena size differ. Hospitality and Premium seats are deliberately outside this first comparison.
The numbers are face-value session prices before the charges shown in the final column. A £50 Crucible ticket becomes £55 with the published 10% transaction fee. A £35 Masters ticket becomes £40.60 after 10% and the £2.10 restoration levy. York's £30 face value excludes fees; check the combined AXS charge in the basket.

Afternoon, evening or morning?
The Masters and UK Championship publish afternoon starts at 1pm and evenings at 7pm. The Crucible programme also contains 10am mornings and 2.30pm afternoons; some dates use 1pm instead. Use the full event timetable for your date. Check venue door-opening information separately from these playing starts.
An afternoon is the more practical first choice if you need a same-day train home. It leaves more of the evening available for a delayed finish. Afternoon matches can last just as long as evening matches. A slow match can run beyond the allowance you made, while a decisive win can end early. Our venue guides allow three to four hours for planning; the actual duration depends on play.
An evening lets you travel after work and gives you the later match or instalment. The drawback is the return journey. At Alexandra Palace, you still have the hill or W3 connection to consider after leaving the arena. At York, check the last Park and Ride departure. Sheffield's station is nearer the Crucible; check the last train to your destination before choosing an evening.
One table or two?
The Masters is single-table throughout. Every spectator is watching the same match. Seats still differ in angle and distance from that table. The Alexandra Palace seating plan and priced categories still matter. Read the Alexandra Palace hub before choosing a row.
The World Championship uses two tables through the quarter-finals and one from the semi-finals. A dividing partition separates the early-round playing areas. Choose a seat facing the table you want to watch. Our World Championship guide explains the published table and draw information, with the full round timetable.
York's 2026 sheet labels two tables through the quarter-finals on 4 December and one from the semi-finals on 5 December. Its plan identifies seating blocks; numbered-table and partition assignments remain unresolved. That unresolved detail belongs in the UK Championship event guide. Ask the York seller which table the chosen seat faces.
Early rounds versus the last weekend
Opening rounds are the lower-cost entry point in all three ordinary categories compared above. York has £30 weekday Standard sessions. The Masters has £35 last-16 sessions. The Crucible's lowest Standard price is £50. The comparison covers these specific editions and dates.
Later rounds reduce the field and change the sporting stakes. At the Masters, the last 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals are best of 11 frames, so one session normally contains one complete match. The final is best of 19 across afternoon and evening. The established UK format also uses best of 11 up to the semi-finals and best of 19 for the final; our 2026 page labels the format source while awaiting the separate draw document.
The Crucible is different. Its first-round matches are best of 19 over two sessions; second round and quarter-finals are best of 25 over three; semi-finals best of 33 over four; final best of 35 over four. An opening session starts a story that another ticket may finish. A concluding session can carry a match-winning frame, but it also carries the risk that very little play remains.
When an all-day ticket earns its keep
The Masters and York publish all-day offers separately from individual session prices. York's 30 November Standard day ticket is £45, compared with two £30 sessions: a £15 face-value saving before fees. On 6 December, Standard all day is £110 against £60 plus £65 separately, again £15 less. The savings are calculated from the sheet before seller fees.
At the Masters, 11 January Standard C all day is £60 against two £35 sessions, saving £10 before charges. Its final day is £145, compared with £75 and £80 separately, also £10 less. The sheet's booking fee and levy still apply; confirm the all-day ticket levy in the seller basket.
A saving is useful only if you can sit through both sessions. Budget for the break between them, a meal and the later journey home. The interval is a break in play; the two matches can last different lengths of time. The two-step calculators on each hub can include nights, rooms, food and travel as well as the published ticket category.
Buying the chance of a finish
A final evening can be the session in which the trophy is decided. It can also be short. The World Championship's final-session terms treat four frames or 90 minutes, whichever comes first, as a completed session. Its refund rules distinguish a session not played from one curtailed before both thresholds, and alternative entertainment changes the outcome. Read those terms before making the trophy presentation the whole reason for your journey.
The Masters sheet marks the final evening and links to its conditions. York's sheet also marks its last session, York's numeric compensation threshold remains unresolved. Read the York seller's terms for that booking. The event pages explain each source and limitation separately, including the distinction between a ticket refund and hospitality catering costs.
The draw, progression and playing order determine who appears on a given date. If one player is essential, wait for the relevant draw and schedule, then check official availability. A booking made months ahead reserves event admission; player allocation follows the draw and results.
A practical short list
For a lower-cost first visit, compare a weekday York Standard session or a Masters last-16 session, then add actual travel. A cheaper ticket in another city can lose its saving when you need a hotel. For a single playing table, the Masters offers that arrangement from the first day; Sheffield and York offer it in the semi-finals and final.
For the Crucible experience with a lower ticket outlay, look at an early Standard M, N, P session and study the seat's table-facing half. For a decisive late-round atmosphere, compare semi-final prices before jumping straight to the final evening. Semi-final and final sessions both narrow the field to the championship's closing matches.
Complete the choice with the practical venue pages: Crucible, Alexandra Palace and York Barbican. They carry arrival routes, bag rules, food and access contacts. The three event pages carry full session prices and their own booking conditions. Keep those two decisions separate: the match you want, and the trip you can make.

FAQs
Is an evening session always better?
No. The sporting interest depends on the match and round. Afternoon sessions leave more time for a same-day return; evening sessions require checking late transport.
Does a two-table ticket let me watch both matches?
At the Crucible the partition separates the playing areas. York numbered-table and partition allocation needs confirmation for the selected seat.
Are the comparison prices the checkout totals?
No. They are published face values. Sheffield adds 10%; Masters adds 10% and £2.10 per ticket. York combined charges need checking at AXS checkout.
